Mother cuts her 10-year-old son’s hands because he went to eat at a neighbor’s house

A woman was arrested on charges of assault after allegedly cutting the hand of her 10-year-old son because he went to eat at a neighbor’s house, police in Nigeria said.

Lagos State Police said that they have arrested 40-year-old Ronke Olayinka, after being accused of inflicting cuts on the hands of 10-year-old Abdullahi Taoreed.

Olayinka told investigators that her son is stubborn and she had to teach him a lesson. She decided to cut him because he went to eat by a neighbor on Sunday.

She didn’t expect the cuts to be so deep. Neighbors of the woman called the police after seeing the boy’s injuries. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released.

The boy told investigators that he went to his neighbor for food because he was hungry and there was nothing to eat at home.
