Mother and father beat their 6-year-old son for defecating in his pants

Parents of a young boy were arrested on a charge of assault after allegedly beating their young son for defecating in his pants, police in Indonesia said.

Jayapura police said that 6-year-old Muhammad Syawal, was brought to the RSUD Dok II hospital after suffering numerous injuries.

Police officers transported Syawal to the hospital on Tuesday, after neighbors reported that he was injured and staggering around in the home.

The sister of Syawal, 16-year-old Devi, told investigators that every time he defecated in his pants, her mother and father beat him.

Police have arrested Deby Husein and Kurnia Jali on charges of assault.

A spokesperson for social services said that they are looking to place the boy with a family member or a government run orphanage.
