(Scroll down for video) Police in Florida, are investigating a horrific workplace accident.

Police said that a man was crushed in a machine at a recycling plant.

43-year-old David Rossman tried to clear a jam in a massive cardboard compactor machine when he fell inside.

After missing for 20 minutes, his coworkers went to look for him and he was found dead inside the compactor. Coworkers said that the machine makes a loud noise so it was impossible to hear if he screamed for help.

“There is a ladder to get out after clearing the blockage. The door to the cubby was open, the ladder was there and they were able to find the employee. He had been crushed,” said Winter Garden Police Lt. Scott Allen.

The accident occurred just before 9:00 a.m. on Monday.

Coworkers said that they are still trying to cope with the sudden loss of their friend, who left behind a wife and a child.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified. Police are investigating the death as an accident.
