Father cuts off his daughter’s finger because she ate meat without permission

A father was arrested on a charge of assault after allegedly cutting off the finger of his daughter because she ate meat without his permission, police in Nigeria said.

Plateau State police said that they have arrested 40-year-old Surulere Rafael, after being accused of cutting off his daughter’s finger because she stole his money and ate without asking permission.

During questioning, Rafael told police that his daughter stole N1,500 ($7.50). He also accused his daughter of taking meat from a pot without asking her mother first.

Police managed to recover the girl’s finger and she is recovering at a hospital. Rafael was arrested and charged with one count of assault.

In November, a mother was arrested on charges of murder after allegedly killing her little son for taking a piece of meat without her permission, police in Nigeria said.

Ebonyi State Police said that they arrested 40-year-old Esther Mmahi Ukpa, after being accused of fatally beating her 4-year-old son.

The incident began on Sunday, when the woman’s husband, Ogbonnaya Ukpa, attended a party and brought home some meat.

The mother told investigators that she put the meat in the fridge, but the following day when she wanted to eat it, she saw only leftover bones.

She asked her son Sampson, if he ate the meat, and when he confessed, Esther Mmahi Ukpa beat him to death. The father claimed that he was not home when his wife beat the child.
